Esther and Donia Serger (Sorgor)

In a small town of Obertyn, Poland, lived the Serger (Sorgor) family, which consisted of three girls, Esther (Ester), Roza Donia and Shulamit (Kristina) Carmi. The photos of these girls, only exist in time and since I am doing my research on Esther (Ester) and Roza Donia. They were the ones murdered during the Holocaust.

Ester (Esther), who was born in 1925 in Poland, was a happy girl who loved her family and she loved life. When the Nazis came to town, they made life difficult for the family.

Apparently, as the reseach goes, During the war they were moved to the Kolomyja Ghetto. But on February 18, 1943, Ester (Esther) was murdered, either by being shot, is what I have come to the conclusion of, and according to Yad Vashem, it said that Donia was “buried alive” — I think that means shot and then buried in the Kamionka Forest on 18 February 1943. Esther was 18 years old when she was murdered.

Roza Donia was born in 1922, she was a full of life beauty. In 1943, she was also murdered. Her death doesn’t make much sense. “Buried Alive” is what it says on Yad Vashem, and I can’t read the Page of Testimony that her sister submitted. It’s kinda hard to tell how she died, but I assume that being “buried alive,” means being shot and then buried. Her sister, Esther was also murdered on February 18, 1943. The only sister to have survived was Krystyna Carmi. She has a book out and I hope to read it, and maybe she mentions her sisters ? I will have to do more research.

The family photos that have survived are adorable as can be!!

Find them on Yad Vashem’s website.
